The NHL Draft Lottery is on Tuesday night and the Philadelphia Flyers have an actual chance at winning something. Albeit, that something has a minimal chance of actually happening, but our favorite hockey club could somehow end up with the second-overall pick in the upcoming 2024 NHL Draft.
What sort of chance do they have? Well thanks to Tankathon, we are able to see just what the percentage of chance that the Flyers have at securing spots in the first round. And, well, the odds aren’t exactly in their favor.
Second overall – 5.1%
Third overall – 0.1%
Fourth overall – 0.1%
12th overall – 85.7%
13th overall – 8.9%
14th overall – 0.2%
So, essentially, the Flyers have a significant chance at staying at 12th overall, and just not at all likely to move anywhere else.
But, also thanks to our buds at Tankathon, they have an NHL Draft Lottery simulator, and we clicked it so many times. Just so you don’t have to waste your time until 6:30 p.m. clicking away, thinking about the prospects the Flyers could draft at certain spots, we went ahead and clicked the simulator for you.
Well, we clicked it exactly 100 times and wrote down where the Flyers are picking in each simulated lottery. And, well, it’s sort of what you expected:

In our Extremely Scientific Method of writing down some results 100 times, we got the Flyers to select at second overall once, drop down to 13th overall eight times, and the rest just stayed at 12. Yup.
But we couldn’t get enough. Just like an elderly person at the slots, it is hard to stop. It will always be the next time you win, you know it. Just keep on hitting that button.
So we did. We decided to hit it until we got the Flyers at second overall.

Okay, so now in a total of 119 simulations, the Flyers will select second overall twice. That’s roughly 1.6 percent.
