Anthony Stolarz slashes opponent in head with goalie stick

The OHL announced Wednesday that Anthony Stolarz has been suspended eight games for the below incident.

London Knights goalie Anthony Stolarz, a 2012 draft pick of the Flyers, probably regrets this. He took a swinging chop at the back of the head of Josh Ho-Sang, a 2014 draft eligible member of the Windsor Spitfires during an OHL playoff game on Tuesday. It was not good.

Stolarz was only given a two-minute minor penalty for high sticking on the play. That is probably the most extreme minor high sticking penalty I’ve ever seen. It occurred at the 15:56 mark of the first period, and Ho-Sang actually was given a two-minute minor for slashing Stolarz’s pads too. (Another London player went for roughing, so it wasn’t even.)

London had a 3-0 lead when this happened, and they went on to win the game 10-2 (!). Stolarz played the entire game, and Ho-Sang actually scored one of the two Windsor goals. This was a playoff game, and the Knights now lead the series 3-0. Who knows if Stolarz will be in net for Game 4.
