Flyers trade Ryan Hartman for Tyler Pitlick

This offseason has been one of the busiest in recent memory, and Monday night, it got even busier for the Flyers:

RW Ryan Hartman departs the team for Dallas with Tyler Pitlick coming to Philadelphia in exchange. The move comes as the Flyers inked RFA Travis Sanheim to a two year deal. Hartman, also an RFA, was perhaps asking for too much AAV than the Flyers were willing to hand out, as Pitlick is only signed for one more year at $1.0 million.

Pitlick is a more defensively sound player, though he does not have massive offensive upside (12 points in 47 games, 2018-19) and is a clear cut fourth liner who has never been Corsi-positive. Hartman, who scored 26 points last season, is a better offensive player and can play on the third line, though perhaps this gave Hartman too much room in contract negotiations. Regardless, the fourth line now looks to now be composed of Michael Raffl, Scott Laughton, and Pitlick.
