It was the Sharks, but…

The Flyers went into Tuesday’s game with an opportunity.

The night before, the Devils, Capitals, and Islanders all lost, three of the teams chasing them in the playoff race had lost, and the team went into a matchup with the worst team in the NHL with a chance to capitalize.

Keep in mind, beating San Jose hasn’t been easy for the Flyers, who were famously the first team to lose to the Sharks after they started on a putrid 11-game losing streak. It may not look like it some nights, but the Sharks are still an NHL team, if taken lightly, they have a chance to turn you over and play spoiler.

The Flyers were also down multiple defensemen, as well as their head coach who was suspended two games for… yelling loudly and not leaving the bench fast enough. Given that the team is already very young and lacking in true top-end talent, missing multiple roster players could very well have been the death blow, especially considering the debacle that had just occurred days before against the Lightning.
