It’s okay to be disappointed

Waking up today, I have to admit: I was sad–and I imagine I wasn’t the only one. The Flyers missing the playoffs by a hair after a stronger-than-expected season really sucks; nobody likes losing, especially to rivals, though at least the Penguins were simultaneously eliminated. Still, as several players admitted after last night’s loss, it’s a tough pill to swallow.

And it’s okay to be upset! This team went on an eight-game losing streak and got their doors blown off by bad teams one right after the other, ultimately costing them their playoff spot. In a rebuilding year, they traded a 4th-round pick for Erik Johnson (who, funnily enough, scored the only Flyers goal against Washington), extended a depth defenseman in Nick Seeler, and finished the season in a less-than-deal lottery position for a rebuilding franchise: 12th, according to Tankathon (keep an eye out for an article coming later on players drafted at that spot in previous years).
