Monday Morning Fly By: Super fun Sunday

*After a Friday night implosion lead to yet another loss to the Boston Bruins, the Flyers went into Washington Sunday afternoon and absolutely crushed the Capitals. And it was actually fun to watch! RECAP!

*Most of that fun came in the form of a Scott Laughton hat trick. He’s not looked great so far, so this was great to see. [ProHockeyTalk]

*One bad bit of news yesterday was the late-hour scratch of Travis Sanheim for “undisclosed” reasons, but that would countered nicely by the return of Sean Couturier, who looked great. [NBC Sports Philly]

*Things were finally starting to look… less than horrific on defense for this team, but with Sanheim out one assumes they’ll be a tire fire again. [BSH]

*Anyway back to good stuff: James van Riemsdyk. JVR had a goal yesterday and has looked fantastic all season thus far. People are starting to notice! [The Hockey News]

*Things are slowly starting to come together, it seems. A bit more slowly for Oskar Lindblom and Nolan Patrick, which probably should’ve been expected. [Inquirer]

*The Lehigh Valley Phantoms finally kicked off their season this weekend and did so in very dramatic fashion. [BSH]

*And now that the NHL is back, things work a bit differently as far as roster moves are concerned. Charlie explains. [The Athletic]

*We got what will likely be the first of several schedule adjustments over the weekend. A few things moved around for the Flyers. [BSH]

*Wayne Simmonds has been on fire over the last few weeks so the news that he’ll miss a significant amount of time is gutting. [Pension Plan Puppet]

*And finally, brand new Flyperbole! Please to enjoy. [BSH]
