Monday Morning Fly By: The end of the line

*Happy Deadline Day, hockey fans! The day in which we all act like reasonable human beings capable of nuanced thought and reasoning. Anyway, the Flyers’ last hope for the playoffs effectively died yesterday, when they lost to the Buffalo Sabres. Again. Recap!

*First “big” trade happened yesterday, with the Blue Jackets trading their captain to Toronto. [Pension Plan Puppets]

*One assumes that Fletcher’s plan for the franchise didn’t hinge on the results of yesterday’s game, but just in case there was any doubt, the team should be selling. [NBC Sports Philly]

*As for expectations, the folks at Sportsnet don’t seem think this will be a particularly exciting day for the Flyers. [Sportsnet]

*There’s some stuff they could do, of course. Based on chatter out there in the hockey verse, might they move Nolan Patrick? [BSH]

*How about those Mattias Ekholm rumors? Any point in the Flyers adding a high-priced, short-term defenseman at this point? [NBC Sports Philly]

*Chuck needs to be looking far past this season, whatever he does. [Inquirer]

*At the end of the day, the biggest news from the Flyers front office might just be the re-signing of Scott Laughton. [BSH]

*Travis Konecny looks better eh? That’s nice. [Inquirer]

*The Phantoms saw both of their games this weekend postponed due to Covid concerns. Which is a real bummer. [BSH]

*And finally, prime yourself for all of the Deadline Day madness with Charlie’s latest, in which readers proposed the trades the Flyers should make. Folks play a lot of ‘chel, it seems. [The Athletic]
