*It was a big weekend for the Flyers and they definitely came to play, they just didn’t get there. Saturday’s game against the Rangers was a hard-fought heck of a hockey game, but the boys fell short. Only a little short, though. RECAP!
*The game featured a donnybrook the likes of which you haven’t seen since like… 1997. [BSH]
*One of the things you could take away from that Rangers game — like several other games against top teams this season — is that the Flyers can hang with the best of them, but eventually the lack of high-end talent catches up with them. [Inquirer]
*Another thing that we saw on Saturday? Confirmation that rivalries are BACK for the Flyers, and that’s fun as heck. [PHLY]
*It wasn’t all good, though. Travis Konecny missed both games this weekend with an undisclosed injury. Still don’t know when he’ll be back. [BSH]
*That bring us to yesterday’s game. Cal Petersen was bad, but the Flyers kept the game real close against a well-rested Penguins team. RECAP!
*Worse than losing the game though? Jamie Drysdale took a hard hit and it looked like he hurt his bad shoulder again. [Inquirer]
*Jeff Marek had some thoughts over the weekend about our boys and what has them bought in. [Sportsnet]
*One of the big things driving all of this, of course, is John Tortorella, who certainly seems to have learned from his past mistakes. [Inquirer]
*And finally, it may only contain one potential game breaker, but the Flyers’ prospect pool has landed at 6th overall in Wheeler’s current ranking. Not too shabby! [The Athletic]
