With the play-in round having come to a close on Sunday, that left a bit of housekeeping for the league to take care of, in the form of the second part of the NHL draft lottery. You may recall, during the first part, a mystery team eliminated during the play-in round won the lottery, and would be selected before the start of the first round. Which is, well, it’s right now.
And the league already strung along the drawing for like 20 minutes, so we’re not going to draw this out any longer. The winner of the 2020 NHL draft lottery is *drumroll*
The New York Rangers!
*crowd booing*
Yeah, yeah, that’s about right. Alexis Lafreniere is the presumptive first overall pick and he’s going to the Metro. Which is not great news for Flyers fans. Whomp whomp.

1. New York Rangers
2. Los Angeles Kings
3. Ottawa Senators
