Flyers assign Anthony Stolarz to the Phantoms

It’s happened, folks! The Flyers cannot stop making moves! And on a Saturday, no less! Can we even really call this a move? Maybe we’re being dramatic. There’s a game tonight and we’re excited. Anywho, after backing up one (1) regular season game with the Flyers, Anthony Stolarz has cleared waivers and has been assigned to the Phantoms.

So, what does this mean? From what we can tell, Stolarz won’t be dressing for the Phantoms’ season opener in Allentown tonight, if he’s even in Allentown yet, we don’t know (new game idea: where in the world is Anthony Stolarz?). Also Calvin Pickard has officially joined the Flyers, so he’ll be backing up tonight in Colorado. So the Flyers still only have two goalies, officially, and things are okay.

For now.

Two more goalies are close to being ready, then, and that makes four for the Flyers, for those keeping count. And that will be a problem. One imagines that once Alex Lyon is healthy, he’ll be waived and assigned to the Phantoms, and then when Michal Neuvirth is healthy, Pickard will be waived? But it’s still early and there’s plenty of time left for weirdness. We’re not ruling anything out. We can’t rule anything out at this point. But we’ll keep you updated as the weirdness does or does not unfold. Let’s go, the Flyers (and the Phantoms)!
