According to the Athletic’s Michael Russo, the Flyers are about to sign a defenseman that Chuck Fletcher will know quite a bit about.
Per sources, #Flyers are signing physical, mobile former #mnwild and #gophers defenseman Nick Seeler.

Nick Seeler, 28, was drafted in 2011 by the Minnesota Wild (5th round, 131 overall). At 6’2”, 201 lbs, he has a solid frame for a quality NHL defenseman, but after finishing his NCAA career with Nebraska, he took an NCAA transfer year, spending 2015-16 with the University of Minnesota before turning professional. Since then, he’s spent roughly half of his career in the AHL and half in the NHL, with his longest NHL stint being 71 games in 2018-19, where he scored 7 points.
He was eventually waived by Minnesota in 2019-20 and was claimed by Chicago. However, in January of 2021 his contract was terminated after he was waived again.
Seeler will likely spend most of his time in the AHL, though if needed he could step in at the NHL level, though he has never been particularly effective nor passible.
