Should Sean Walker stay or go?

Weaving through every ounce of thought about the Philadelphia Flyers this season is one specific sentiment: Is this team really this good? Every little thought about their targeted rebuild and being in long-term pain for great reward. Going through the lineup and determining who is right for this team. Spending so much time figuring out if this is even the right management group to do the job.

We are tirelessly thinking about the true long-term meaning behind this team overperforming compared to previous expectations.

One of those players whose future in Philadelphia really depends on if the organization wants to believe in this current team or not, is defenseman Sean Walker. Having joined the team as seemingly a throw-in to make the dollars work in the three-way trade that sent Ivan Provorov to Columbus, Walker is having an incredible year experiencing his only other NHL home than Los Angeles.

The 29-year-old is a right-handed defenseman that is just a stabilizing presence on the blue line — essentially a combination of attributes that almost every team would love to have. Unfortunately, there is a decision that needs to be made in the coming months: Should the pending unrestricted free agent get traded at the deadline to further push this rebuild, or should the Flyers try to re-sign him?

There are at least some reports that the player would like to stay in Philadelphia, but, there are more that are saying more and more teams are calling about acquiring him. It’s something that we just have to breakdown.
