The Noon Number: 77.8

77.8 percent – the Flyers’ points percentage (i.e. points earned out of total possible points) in games in the weeks following each of their three losses this year in which they gave up seven goals. Specifically, they’re 6-1-2 in those games.

November 1: Flyers lose 7-0 to the Capitals.
The week that followed: Flyers win 1-0 over the Devils, lose 2-1 to the Hurricanes in overtime, lose 3-0 to the Devils (three out of six possible points)

December 11: Flyers lose 7-2 to the Blackhawks
The week that followed: Flyers win 2-1 over the Canadiens, lose 5-4 to the Capitals in a shootout, win 5-2 over the Capitals (five out of six possible points)

February 27: Flyers lose 7-3 to the Sharks
The week that followed: Flyers win 4-2 over the Rangers, win 5-4 over the Capitals in overtime, win 6-4 over the Capitals (six out of six possible points)

14 points in nine games. So obviously what this means is that if the Flyers simply must lose a game, they should allow seven goals in doing so. Only good things can happen from there.
