Thursday Morning Fly By: Let’s make it two

*The Flyers are back on the ice at bedtime tonight, this time in LA against Jeff Carter and the Kings. Looks like the boys had an eventful practice yesterday. [Flyers]

*Before this next game, let’s look at what we learned from a much-needed win in Anaheim. [BSH]

*For subscribers, Charlie’s done well to highlight why we should be happy about the win, but maybe not get ahead of ourselves. [The Athletic]

*Nolan Patrick was the star of Tuesday night’s game and boy oh boy would it be nice if this was the start of him getting going. [NBC Sports Philly]

*Sometimes it is fun to hear about the Flyers’ performance from outside our little bubble, so if you’re interested in that kind of thing check out Anaheim Calling’s postgame podcast reaction to the game. [Anaheim Calling]

*Nicolas Aube-Kubel got to make his NHL debut in front of his family and the kid did well for himself in limited use. For him, even five minutes of ice time is a dream come true. [Philly.com]

*Have you been wondering what John Boruk thinks of the Flyers’ slow start? No? Well here it is anyway. [NBC Sports Philly]

*There have been few positives to note over these early games, but the one bright shining beacon of goodness has been the play of Travis Sanheim. [Philly.com]

*Anyhoo, let’s check in on the Phantoms and see how those kids are doing. Spoiler: it’s pretty good! [BSH]

*Halloween is a fun time to check in on Gritty, for obvious reasons. [BSH]

*31 Thoughts is always a must-read, but it gets even must-readier when Friedman places the Flyers smack in the middle of a juicy trade rumor. [Sportsnet]

*John Tortorella thinks the NHL has gotten soft. Really? [Yahoo Sports]

*And one of the more famous hockey fans thinks the NHL has gotten boring. Can’t argue with that one, at least not as a Flyers fan this year. [CTV News]

*Another former NHL enforcer has been found struggling, living in his car, and dealing with the residual effects of traumatic brain injury. These kinds of stories always bum me out, but I think they’re important to read. [CBC]

*And finally, on a lighter note, a new episode of Ice Sport Radio! We dive into the NHL’s gambling deal, the hyper surrounding Elias Pettersson, and a whole bunch more. Hope you like it! [BSH]
