Travis Konecny is in Philadelphia for injury evaluation; season could be over

This is obviously terrible news for Travis Konecny. But it’s even worse news for the Sarnia Sting, who gave up two players and 10 draft picks to get Konecny in an attempt to win the Memorial Cup this year:

It appears as though Konecny’s season is over, particularly if the Flyers are getting him checked out by their docs. That implies a significant level of seriousness. Sarnia is in Sault Ste. Marie tonight to take on the Greyhounds in Game 3 of their best-of-seven OHL playoff series. Sarnia trails 2-0 entering the game and Konecny’s absence won’t help their comeback effort.

Obviously, his season ending would rule out any talk of him joining the Philadelphia Flyers when his OHL season concludes, although that was unlikely to begin with.

This isn’t the first time Konecny has had a shoulder problem. About a year ago he also missed significant time with a shoulder injury.
