Wednesday Morning Fly By: That’s a big matzo ball

*A couple of hours before last night’s game against the Lightning, we learned that Carter Hart will be taking an “indefinite” leave of absence from the Flyers for “personal reasons.” We don’t know why he’s done this, and we won’t speculate. It’s tacky. But this is, without question, a Big Deal.

*Right, so there was a game last night too! And the Flyers lost, but in a valiant way. Which is the best way to lose, really. RECAP!

*With Bobby Brink being sent down to the Phantoms, we got a look at Olle Lycksell, who has been doing quite well up in Allentown and wants to bring that energy to the Big Club. [Inquirer]

*Before the Hart news dropped Charlie wrote an excellent piece on the competition between him and Sam Ersson, and it’s definitely still worth reading. [PHLY]

*Do we, as a society, need to give Chuck Fletcher more credit for the Claude Giroux trade? [BSH]

*It’s been so nice to hear from Mike Richards, who will be here Friday to play in the big Alumni Game against the Bruins’ alums. If you didn’t know, we are giving away a pair of tickets! [Inquirer]

*A little update on current trade rumors, including an update on the contract situation of Future Flyer Elias Pettersson. [TSN]

*And finally, in something extremely relevant to all of our interests: how do NHL teams pick their captain? [ESPN]
