World Cup of Hockey 2016: Claude Giroux not snubbed, will play for Team Canada

Claude Giroux was snubbed from Team Canada back in 2014 at the Olympic Games in Sochi. It was not a stretch to think the same could happen this fall at the World Cup of Hockey.

But, nope — Canada’s management team came to their senses and indeed named Giroux to the roster on Friday night. He is the only Flyer on the team, although fellow Canadian Sean Couturier will play on the under-23 Team North America squad.
