Vote Oskar Lindblom as a Metro captain for the 2020 NHL All-Star game

Though many fans are still reeling from the news of Oskar Lindblom’s Ewing’s sarcoma diagnosis, the hockey community has come up with a creative way to try and let the Flyers’ forward that he’s plenty of people rooting for him.

A poster on Reddit (Arahn17) floated the idea of voting in Lindblom as a captain to represent the Metropolitan team in the All-Star game. Though many like Sidney Crosby, Claude Giroux, Artemi Panarin, and Alex Ovechkin are obvious choices, you can write-in a vote by scrolling to the bottom of the ballot and search for any player.

Even though Oskar wouldn’t be able to play in the game given his medical situation, it could be a touching way to let him see the support of the hockey community as he piles up votes for the game. We’ve seen fans go to great lengths in order for special circumstances, with journeyman John Scott’s All-Star MVP weekend coming to mind immediately.

Lindblom would have perhaps made an interesting voting candidate regardless of his diagnosis, but still carries a share of the Flyers high mark for goals thus far and was on his way to a career year.

Nobody is quite sure when Lindblom will come back, but this is a cool thing to do and it would be great too him be a part of All-Star weekend.
