Tuesday Morning Fly By: Now you can relax

*July 1 has come and gone and, as we all really should’ve known, the Flyers had a relatively quiet day. They signed some depth players for Allentown and that was about it. [BSH]

*All in all, the Flyers ended up with eight guys to fill out their AHL and ECHL rosters, which is a perfectly acceptable way to go about July 1. [NBC Sports Philly]

*One of the kids they signed is native to the Philly area, which is always fun. [Courier-Post]

*A lot of our old pals got themselves new contracts, though! That’s fun! Most notably, and probably most annoyingly to you personally, is Wayne Simmonds’ one year, $5m signing with the New Jersey Devils. Good for Wayne, but we are afraid we cannot wish him all the way well in this circumstance. [ProHockeyTalk]

*The Detroit Red Wings felt it was a wise move to sign both Cal Pickard AND Valtteri Filppula  to actual NHL contracts. Amazing, really. And they gave both of them two years! Bless.

*And as was rumored, Cam Talbot is going to get his chance to shine up in Calgary on his new one year contract. [Matchsticks and Gasoline]

*Later in the afternoon Marc Bergevin made things interesting and offer sheeted Sebastian Aho (Canes Edition). It was an offer pretty much designed to be matched, which makes it boring, but at least he did it. [Canes Country]

*And as if the Metro wasn’t already tough enough, the Rangers won the Artemi Panarin contest. Extraordinarily large contract, but, you know, free agency. [Blueshirt Banter]
