Tyson Foerster’s emergence showing he has star potential

After scoring three goals and four assists for seven points in just eight contests for the Philadelphia Flyers in 2022-23, expectations for now 22-year-old forward Tyson Foerster were sky-high entering his official rookie campaign in 2023-24. But the 2020 first-round pick didn’t hit the ground running offensively. At least, not to start.

This season, Foerster has mainly been notable for his good defensive results in top-six minutes — a rookie playing well defensively against tough competition is always a plus. But with that being said, he was a bit of a low-event player.

He got good defensive results, sure, but the offense was by no means elite. Instead of scoring at a near point-per-game rate like he was in 2022-23, he wasn’t even scoring half a point per game. That was until his injury against the Seattle Kraken on February 10 that sidelined him for two weeks.
